This solid silver model by Barbedienne, made just 11 years after the Rheims original, was exhibited at the Exposition Universelle, Paris 1900. Among Barbedienne's other rare castings in silver is Henri IV Enfant, now in the Louvre.
Canonized in 1920, St Joan Of Arc has become a global symbol of courage and resistance in the face of tyranny, her image being used by the French Resistance in the Second World War as a representation of their struggle. Together with the Rheims original, this model has pride of place in front of the St Augustin Church Paris.
